Whether you’re starting your journey as a Level 1 technician or advancing to Levels 2 and 3, our training program meets all IRATA guidelines. IRATA certification is crucial for anyone looking to work in industries that rely on rope access for safe and effective operations.

At Ropeology, we are dedicated to providing high-quality training with expert instructors, industry-standard equipment, and a state-of-the-art facility.

All candidates should be physically fit and unaffected by any disability or medical condition that may prevent them from working safely. They shall ensure that they have an adequate level of fitness, are physically able to perform the tasks expected in terms of strength, agility and co-ordination, and are able to withstand the stresses of the working environment, such as working at height, exposure to heat, cold, and other inclement weather.

IRATA Level 2/3s candidates must be able to provide an up-to-date and signed logbook with a running total of logged hours. Signed by an IRATA level 3/ buisness owner/ client or facility management.

IRATA LEVEL 1

The IRATA Level 1 course provides essential knowledge and training in the safe use and inspection of rope access equipment. Participants will learn a range of rope access techniques under the supervision of an IRATA Level 3 professional.

This course is designed for anyone looking to enter the rope access industry. It covers theoretical knowledge, including the safe use of equipment, understanding risk assessments, and method statements.

Participants will also gain practical skills in rigging techniques, appropriate knots, safely performing rope access manoeuvres, climbing structures using work positioning and fall arrest techniques, and rescuing an incapacitated worker from height to ground level.

Prerequisites

Candidates shall be at least 18 years of age at the start of the course and completion of a medical questionnaire.

IRATA LEVEL 2 

The IRATA Level 2 rope access training is designed to equip you with the skills to rig working ropes, perform rescues, and carry out rope access tasks under the supervision of an IRATA Level 3 technician. The course also covers relevant legislation, safety requirements, and quality assurance procedures in rope access.

You will gain theoretical and practical knowledge of rope access, with a focus on the safe use of equipment and advanced rescue techniques.

This course is ideal for experienced Level 1 technicians looking to advance within the IRATA scheme.

Prerequisites

IRATA Level 1 certification with a minimum of 1,000 logged hours and 12 months of experience, and completion of a medical questionnaire.

IRATA LEVEL 3

Designed for experienced IRATA Level 2 technicians looking to progress, the IRATA Level 3 course in Geelong prepares you for safety team leader roles in rope access projects. This advanced training covers complex rescue operations, rigging techniques, and essential knowledge of industry legislation and safety protocols.

You’ll gain in-depth theoretical and practical skills, including safe equipment use, the IRATA Code of Practice, risk assessments, and worksite organisation. The course also includes advanced rope access manoeuvres, climbing structures with fall arrest systems, and performing a range of rescues, from abseil to hauling techniques.

Upon completion and successful assessment, you’ll be fully equipped to supervise a team and lead rescue operations in high-risk environments under the IRATA system. 

Prerequisites

IRATA Level 2 certification with a minimum of 1,000 logged hours and 12 months of experience, a completed medical questionnaire.
